Well known for his role in The Lost Medallion: The Adventures of Billy Stone, Billy Unger has been making waves on the Disney Channel with his lead in the show Lab Rats since 2012. But recently, the 18-year-old actor has been making headlines for a very different reason!
On June 28, the underage star was pulled over for speeding and subsequently arrested for DUI when officers confirmed that he’d been drinking — and he’s not the first Disney star to run into trouble with the law. See 9 other stars from the network who ran into trouble despite their squeaky clean Disney Channel image:
Shia made his comedy breakthrough as the dorky but clever younger brother in Even Stevens from 1999-2003, but the Lawless star wasn’t laughing when he was arrested not once…not twice…but three different times following his Disney departure!
The actor was first charged for assault with a deadly weapon in 2005 after threatening his neighbor by driving into his car. Then, in 2007, he was arrested for misdemeanor criminal trespassing when he refused to leave a Walgreens in Chicago. Most recently (just last week, in fact!), he was jailed for disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing while attending a Broadway play in New York City.
Orlando was a Disney staple in the early 2000s, with lead roles in both That’s So Raven and the animated hit The Proud Family. Unfortunately, the year Raven ended also marked the first time Orlando ran into some serious trouble with the cops.
The actor was arrested in April 2007 for marijuana possession. Four years later, in August 2011, he received a DUI while driving with his pregnant girlfriend in Hollywood, and in 2012 he was arrested twice for failing to complete the conditions of his probation stemming from said DUI.
Acting in everything from Disney Channel original movies like Life is Ruff, to the popular television series Hannah Montana, Mitchel has truly dabbled in everything the network has to offer. That’s why it came as a shock to all when the actor was arrested for DUI in 2011 after he failed to slow down for police! 20-years-old at the time, Mitchel was released on $5,000 bail, and has luckily stayed out of trouble since.
Anneliese van der Pol
The That’s So Raven stars just can’t seem to catch a break! Anneliese, who gained fame as Raven’s quirky best friend on the show, was arrested in July 2006, also for DUI. Officers said they apprehended the actress after she hit one park car…and then several more. According to court documents, Anneliese was driving with a .19 blood-alcohol level, more than twice California’s legal limit of .08.
While she was never a television series regular, Lindsay was featured in all the best Disney movies like The Parent Trap, Life-Size and Get a Clue — and she’ll always be Disney royalty.
However, in 2007, she ditched her good girl persona and started racking up a laundry list of criminal charges. Between 2007 and 2012, the actress got arrested for everything from DUI to cocaine possession, violating probation, burglary and even a hit-and-run.
Although she’s been in trouble with the law more times than we can keep up with, the 27-year-old has seemingly cleaned up her act since leaving rehab in 2013. We’ll see if she can keep it up, though…
Now more well known for her amazing voice, Christina got her start acting on The All New Mickey Mouse Club from 1989-1994. Years after her Disney debut, though, The Voice coach got into a bit of trouble with the law for public intoxication in 2011.
At the time of her arrest, Christina was driving with boyfriend Matthew Rutler, who was arrested for DUI. The two were both released on bail, and all charges were dropped.
Ryan captured hearts in the movies Smart House and The Luck of the Irish back in 1999 and 2001, but it seems the Disney child star’s luck ran short in 2011. During that year, Ryan divorced his high school sweetheart, and wife of seven years, and was arrested on suspicion of DUI a few months later.
While David is most well-known for his role on Wizards of Waverly Place, he’s actually been a Disney regular since 2003, with roles in That’s So Raven and Dadnapped.
In 2010, though (while he was still starring on Wizards), David and his younger brother, Lorenzo, were arrested while at Universal City Walk in California. The pair got into a verbal argument with some people leaving the area, and while security held back Lorenzo, the then 20-year-old allegedly became aggressive trying to protect his little bro. They were detained for two hours before being released.
Trouble hit Phill long before his role on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody! In 1991, he was arrested for drunk driving…and manslaughter! The actor, then 24, had been driving with an alcohol level more than three times the legal limit when he collided head-on with a 21-year-old woman. The woman died instantly, and Phill served one year in jail, two subsequent years of probation, and had to complete 350 hours of community service.
