“I did ask for his permission,” the singer admitted on On Air With Ryan Seacrest Monday. “I don’t want to talk about it, you know how I am, but yes, of course I did. I had to. It was extremely nerve-racking.”
Adam is not one to talk much about his personal life, so the relationship questions stopped there. He did, however, open up about his band, Maroon 5’s, new album V, which will be released on Sept. 2 — including the fact that his new The Voice co-coach, Gwen Stefani, will make a vocal appearance.
“How do you know everything already?” he joked when Ryan Seacrest asked about the duet. “I wanted it to be a surprise, but she is.”
Gwen and Pharrell will join Adam and fellow veteran coach Blake Shelton on Season 7 of The Voice this fall.
