Jonah Hill is the latest celeb to lose his temper in front of a paparazzo, but unfortunately, his choice of words during an angry rant is causing even more problems! A video surfaced online of the actor telling a photographer to, “suck my d—, you f—-t,” something he admits he deeply regrets saying.
“This is a heartbreaking situation for me,” the 30-year-old told Howard Stern. “I’m upset because from the day I was born, and publicly, I’ve been a gay rights activist. You saw a 40 second video, this person had been following me around, just to give it some context, not excusing it any way, but this person had been following me around all day, had been saying hurtful things about my family, really hurtful things about me personally, and I played into exactly what he wanted and lost my cool.”
For Jonah, it was his use of the word “f—-t” that had him unable to sleep afterward. “In that moment, I said a disgusting word that does not at all reflect how I feel about any group of people,” he explained. “I grew up with gay family members, I’m leaving here to spend the day with one of my closest coworkers, a best friend who is gay, who is getting married and I’m going to stand at his wedding. I am not at all defending my choice of words, but I am happy to be the poster boy for thinking about what you say. Even if you don’t intend [words] and how they mean, they are rooted in hate, and that’s bull—-. And I shouldn’t have said that.”
He reiterated that he didn’t mean his statement “as a derogatory term toward anyone in the LGBT community,” and that “f—-t” isn’t something that’s “part of my vernacular.”
At the end of the day, the Moneyball star explained what scares him the most about his slip up. “It would break my heart, that anyone could think, especially with all the work I’ve done and loved ones I have, that I would be against anyone for their sexuality,” he explained. “That’s absurd to me.”
