For the first time in six seasons, the winner of The Voice isn’t from Team Adam Levine or Team Blake Shelton! Instead, it was two-time coach Usher whose contestant, Josh Kaufman, was named the winner of the singing competition show on Tuesday night’s live finale.
The soulful-singing dad was up against Team Adam’s Christina Grimmie and Team Blake’s Jake Worthington in the two-hour finale. After fan-favorite Christina was announced in third place, it was a repeat showdown of Season Four, with Blake and Usher vying for the top spot.
Unlike his previous attempt, though, this time, Usher came out on top.
The Voice will return for another season next fall, with Adam and Blake returning to their big red chairs. The guys will be joined by new coaches Pharrell and Gwen Stefani.
As of now, CeeLo Green, Shakira and Usher have said they’re not likely to return as judges, while Christina Aguilera has yet to comment on whether or not she’ll come back at some point.
