The judging panel is set for Season 7 of The Voice — Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will return alongside new coaches Gwen Stefani and Pharrell. The news doesn’t mean there’s no room for former coaches to come back in the future, but it looks like Shakira is ready to follow CeeLo Green’s lead and hand in the towel for good.
“For now, no, I don’t have any plans of coming back,” she told DigitalSpy. “This was always a temporary thing for me to do.”
But that doesn’t mean she’s completely against returning at some point. “You never know,” she admitted. ” “I never thought I would be on a show like this one. But the nature of the show, you know, the fact that we’re not just judges here, we’re coaches, we’re helping new talent flourish, made me change my mind and made me say yes to being here.”
The Colombian singer joined the show in Season 4, and returned in its current season, 6. “Honestly, I’ve had a blast,” she gushed. “I love the show. I love the people on the show — the producers, the fellow coaches. It’s been real fun.”
Lucky for Shak’s fans, leaving The Voice will leave more time for her to work on the other aspects of her career. “Right now, I have to go on with my life as an artist,” she explained. “I’m not really a TV celebrity and I have to prep a tour, and also do other stuff…like being a mother!”
Christina Aguilera and Usher have both not commented on whether or not they plan to come back in the future.
