It’s been 12 years since Eminem released “Cleanin’ Out My Closet,” the song for which he infamously filmed a video digging his own mother’s grave. Now, after years of estrangement, the rapper has reunited with his mom, Debbie Mathers, and filmed the moment for a new video, released, appropriately, on Mother’s Day.
In “Headlights,” which features Fun. frontman Nate Reuss, Eminem apologizes to his mom, and takes responsibility for his own role in their past problems. The video is shot from her point of view, as she attempts to reconnect with the 41-year-old and reminisces on his childhood.
The rapper specifically apologizes for “Cleanin’ Out My Closet,” and reveals he never plans to perform it in concerts again. Check out the video above.
