From animated on the big screen…to the big stage! Planning is in the very early stages to bring Disney’s latest hit film Frozen to Broadway, and a very familiar face wants in!
Idina Menzel was recently asked whether or not she’d like to play Elsa, whom she voiced in the movie, in a Broadway adaptation, and her enthusiastic response is likely to excite fans. “Yes! Sure! Absolutely!” she told Cosmopolitan.
The Tony winner’s rendition of “Let It Go” reached No. 5 on the Billboard charts and the movie’s soundtrack has sold more than 2 million copies, spending multiple weeks at No. 1 on the charts. “It was such a dream of mine to be in the Disney family and become an animated queen,” Idina added. She’s currently starring in another Broadway play, If/Then.
Kristen Bell has also showed interest in reprising her role in the movie’s Broadway version.
