On Monday night’s episode of Dancing With the Stars, Danica McKellar got a near perfect score, earning a 39/40 from the four judges. The high marks came from her first routine back with partner Val Chmerkovskiy after a week apart for Season 18’s infamous “partner switch.”
Last week, the Wonder Years star danced with Val’s brother Maksim Chmerkovskiy instead, but during an appearance on Veria Living Live, she revealed there’s no way she can make comparisons between the brothers. “Maks is awesome,” she admitted. “I get to see him still, so it’s great. But Val’s my partner! You can’t really compare the two.”
Meanwhile, Val danced with his big brother’s partner, Meryl Davis, an Olympic ice dancer who has been a frontrunner since Week 1. But, despite Meryl’s obvious skills, the pro said he couldn’t wait to get back to his original pairing.
“[Meryl] and Maks really developed a beautiful chemistry on the floor that I couldn’t replace,” he explained. “And same with Danica and me. I was very excited to get back with her, because even though she may have different capabilities and strengths, and a different set of weaknesses than Meryl, I think we complement each other on a level that triumphs over any strengths other people have as individuals.”
