Cody Simpson is the youngest competitor on this season of Dancing With the Stars, and after just a few weeks, the pressure is definitely on! Next week, for the first time ever, the celebrities on the show will switch professional partners, making new pairs chosen by the fans.
“I actually just met my new partner, which is a secret until Monday, but it’s different!” the singer said in an interview on Veria Living Live. “I’ve just become so used to having Witney [Carson] as my partner, and we’re both so young that we work very well together. So to have to switch it up just as you’re getting in the flow of things is a little different. But, it’ll be nice. I’m going into it with a positive attitude, like — hey, go away for a week, learn something new from someone else, and be able to bring it back to your original partner and hopefully be stronger than ever.”
So, how does the Aussie singer’s girlfriend, GiGi Hadid, feel about his sexy dance moves with the 22-year-old pro? “She’s alright with it,” he laughed. “She’s a model herself and she has to shoot with guys and all that stuff. Together, we kind of just have that trust in each other where we both have jobs and understand that there’s those elements to our jobs.”
During the interview, Cody gushed about how strong the competition was as a whole this season, but did take note of who he thinks is his biggest competitor — Charlie White. “He’s become a good friend of mine,” the 17-year-old admitted. “He’s obviously an Olympic, gold medalist figure skater who’s amazing so far. If I had to choose, so far, one of the strongest competitors on the show, it’d have to be him probably.”
Veria Living Live airs weekdays at 1 pm EST on Veria Living.
