Just days after Lindsay Lohan left rehab last summer, she began filming her new docu-series for the OWN network. During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing Monday, March 31, the actress opened up about what it was like to let the cameras in during that time.
“It was really scary at first because I didn’t expect it to be what it became with the cameras being there and stuff,” she admitted. “I just wanted to get back into anything that felt like work mode, just on a schedule — on a routine. Then, it got really over whelming and strange. It was scary, but it was probably one of the best things I’ve ever allowed myself to do.”
Since leaving Cliffside Malibu, the 27-year-old has managed to stay out of trouble, which host Ellen DeGeneres noted was surprising since she’d tried rehab so many other times in the past. “When I went to treatment this time, I really just wanted a moment for myself and I learned a lot of different tools and things I didn’t in the past,” Lindsay explained. “In the past, I was sent to rehab to avoid them putting me in jail. It wasn’t necessarily what I wanted or was ready for, it was kind of just going with the motions. This was the first time where I went to my lawyer and was like, ‘I need some time, I need to figure this out.'”
While working on the show, the Mean Girls star formed a relationship with Oprah Winfrey, who she remains close with. “She’s just been a really strong guiding light and force to me as a friend and someone I admire,” Lindsay gushed.
