For the past week, when we hear Vogue, it’s hard not to think of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s controversial cover. Of course, there’s more to the April 2014 issue than just Kimye, including an interview with Mindy Kalingwho opened up about body image and the style she chooses for it.

“There’s a whole list of things I would probably change about myself,” the actress admitted. “For example, I’m always trying to lose 15 pounds. But I never need to be skinny. I don’t want to be skinny. I’m constantly in a state of self-improvement, but I don’t beat myself up over it.”

People fell in love with Mindy on The Office, but even more so in her Fox series The Mindy Project, because of her relatability and humor. This is part of how she developed her fashion sense. “I love when your clothes can help you project that you’re witty,” she explained. “You know, when your outfit does some of the work for you. When I’m at my thinnest, I tend to wear things that don’t show off my body. But, when I’m bigger, I’ll go body-con, which comes from a place of, ‘This is my perimeter, in case you’re wondering if I was actually much bigger.'”

The Mindy Project returns next Tuesday, April 1, with an hour-long episode.
