According to our eye witness, the former couple, who split nearly a year ago, had several cute moments during the Q&A session. “Ian grabbed her arm, and the two joined forces in making fun of [costar] Paul [Wesley], even high fiving each other at one point,” the insider explains.
Besides just their friendly attitude toward one another, the actors both noted that they’re currently obsessing over True Detective. “I think what’s amazing about shows that have a little more leeway — maybe a cable show that’s going to have 10, 12, 15 episodes a season — they have an exorbitant amount of time to really take time and find those shots and the nuance of scenes and the energy there,” Ian gushed, adding praise for the show’s stars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey.
“It’s a little slow, but very cinematic,” Nina added of the HBO hit. “It’s like watching little, mini-movies on television and I really enjoyed all the performances.”
The pair also dished on what it was like working with Paul as a director on a recent episode of the CW show. “He was very confident, very prepared,” Nina admitted. “He knew what he wanted, and he’s an actor, so he knew how to talk to all of us. And I especially had a lot of fun hazing him!”
Meanwhile, Paul called directing, “the best experience I’ve ever had,” and noted that the “cast was so unbelievably supportive.” And Ian even shared that he plans to take on the seat behind the camera for an episode next season! “Yeah, next year I’ll do it,” he confirmed.
