No hard feelings here! It’s been a few weeks since John Travolta famously introduced Idina Menzel as “Adele Nazeem” at the Academy Awards, and now, the Broadway star is finally opening up about the incident.
“That threw me for a minute,” she says, of the moment the actor flubbed her name. “But then I just got back on track and reminded myself of where I was, and what a beautiful moment it was.”
Indeed, the 42-year-old went on to perform the song flawlessly, as if nothing had happened. And don’t worry — she holds nothing against John! “He was really gracious and sent this gorgeous e-mail,” she explained. “And we’re buddies, it’s all cool.” Plus, she added, “I’ve only benefited from it!”
As for the Grease star, he obviously felt bad about the mess up. “I’ve been beating myself up all day,” he admitted afterward. “Then I thought, ‘What would Idina Menzel say?’ She’d say, ‘Let it go! Let it go!'”
