The New York City chief medical examiner’s office confirmed Wednesday that L’Wren Scott’s death is officially being ruled as a suicide. The fashion designer was found dead in her Manhattan apartment, where she killed herself by “hanging,” on Monday.

In a piece for the New York Times, the 47-year-old’s longtime friend, Cathy Horyn, suggests that L’Wren had been struggling financially and professionally before taking her life.

L’Wren dated Rolling Stones frontman, Mick Jagger, since 2001. The band canceled an upcoming string of tour dates in Australia following the tragedy, and are rallying around their friend during the difficult time.
