L’Wren Scott’s suicide was a shock even to those close to her — including longtime boyfriend, Mick Jagger.
For the first time since the fashion designer’s unexpected death on Monday, the Rolling Stones rocker has broken his silence about the tragedy. “I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way,” he wrote on Facebook. “We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves.”
He began dating the now 47-year-old in 2001, and they’ve been together ever since. On Mar. 17, L’Wren was found dead in her Manhattan apartment. “She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me,” Mick continued. “I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received. I will never forget her.”
Following the news, the Stones cancelled a concert in Australia on Wednesday. No word yet on how this tragedy will affect the rest of their upcoming tour Down Under.
