Oscar weekend begins well before the big show on Sunday night! This year, QVC’s 5th Annual Red Carpet Style Event was held on Friday, Feb. 28, at the Four Seasons Hotel, and was just one of many pre-parties leading up to the Academy Awards. Star was at the event, and caught up with several of the celebs in attendance!
Congratulations on your new show, Hollywood Exes. What can we expect to see?
Shanna Moakler: We have been filming since December and the show will be airing April 30. One of the cast members is getting married. I have come in as a new player and really shaken things up and caused some trouble, which is really fun and exciting. I really feel like this season will be the most drama packed season. This will be the most fun to watch!
Who do you get along with best on the show?
I really get along with all of the ladies. One of my favorites, Mayte, is starting a faux fur line with me called Foxy Fauxtour. We have a fashion show on March 8, so I’m really excited to launch this project with her.
What is your favorite part about the Oscars/Oscar weekend?
I love all the parties! Everyone is in town, so it’s nice seeing everyone. There is so much fashion and it really brings out the real magic of Hollywood.
What is your favorite part about the Oscars or Oscar weekend in general?
Sarah Drew: I love the acceptance speeches that are given during the awards show. I love seeing how emotional the winners get, or i love the different directions they go with the speeches. Whether it is making a statement about something they really believe in, hearing who they thank, and watching them become so overcome with gratitude.
What film are you looking forward to see win this year?
I really want 12 Years a Slave to win across the board. I just think it was such a powerful film. Everyone’s performance was insane and I think all around the film was incredible.
What is your favorite beauty product of the moment?
I have this wonderful lip gloss called By Terry. It is rose scented and flavored and it is like swiping silk across your lips! I wear it on Grey’s Anatomy all the time.
Besides Grey’s Anatomy, what is your favorite show on TV and why?
I love to watch Parenthood. Parenthood is so good!
Do you have a guilty pleasure? It can be anything you’re obsessed with!
Ice cream! I love Baskin Robin’s Peanut Butter Cup Sundae! It comes drenched in peanut butter sauce and chocolate and is full of chunks of peanut butter cup pieces.
What is one thing you always have to do before going to bed?
I always slather myself with lotion! It makes me feel soft and clean.
What do you usually do to unwind or relax?
I like to listen to music in my pajamas with a glass of wine and watch Parenthood or New Girl.
Are you working on any other projects besides Grey’s Anatomy?
Yes! I’m starting a new movie that will be coming out Mother’s Day weekend on May 9 called Girls Night Out. It is a fun, family friendly comedy that is a combination of The Hangover and Bridesmaids with the comedy of Father of the Bride. It is a very clean film, but they go out one night and everything goes wrong.
Did you have fun at the OK! Magazine party?
What is your favorite part about the Oscars or Oscar weekend in general?
My favorite part is the style and all the outfits. I am no fashionista by any means, but I can appreciate style and a great dress! I am still a girl somewhere in here, so I like to discuss and give my opinions on who looks best. I am really excited to see Lupita Nyong’o — she is gorgeous.
Who are you looking forward to see win on Sunday night?
Jennifer Lawrence has been on a roll. She is the new it girl. I hope Jennifer wins.
Hank Baskett: We like to watch to see who wins, but we never know what category of who wins what! There are so many different categories that it gets confusing, so we just like to watch the show for the end result.
Do you have a favorite movie that has been nominated and you look forward to see winning?
Hank: The Lego Movie
Kendra: Babe! That is next year. We are talking about the Oscars this year.
Hank: I heard her say out now and that is my favorite movie right now!
Kendra: Anyway, as much as I shouldn’t say this, because we have kids, I really liked that Blue Jasmine movie. I also saw Captain Phillips. Do I think that should win? No.
Do you have a favorite beauty product out right now?
Yes! Heavy, heavy cocoa butter cream. I rub it all over my belly and so far, so good — I don’t have any marks yet! Thank God!
What is your favorite part about the Oscars or Oscar Weekend in general?
Ross Mathews: Everything! When I was growing up in a little farm town, I used to go online an predict all the winners with all those other dorky people. I still use the same user names and passwords that I used growing up during awards season. Now that I get to be here, I just love the experience in general. The town comes alive. I get to see the stars so up close and personal. They seemed so other-worldly, and now they are tangible and weird. I’ll see huge stars walking out of port-a-potties at the event and I’m, like…not too glamorous! But who cares!
Do you have a favorite movie that has been nominated?
I loved Wolf of Wall Street. I am torn between wanted Leonardo DiCaprio and Matthew McConaughey to win. And then Cate Blanchett is a no-brainer.
Favorite beauty/hygiene product on the market right now?
I’ve used Cetaphil since I was in high school — and look at my skin. I’m a baller on a budget!
Do you have a favorite designer?
I don’t have any favorite designer! I can’t decide. What I do like is to see pops of style on men, something that catches your eye — like a fun pocket square or bow tie. I am actually coming out with my own line of pocket squares soon. I’ll give you the exclusive!
What is your favorite part of the Oscars or Oscar Weekend in general?
Taylor Armstrong: I love clothes, so let’s just face it — I love looking at all the different dresses, which is super superficial of me to say. I have been catching up on all the movies and this year has just been amazing. I am obsessed with Dallas Buyers Club and Matthew McConaughey’s performance. The physical transformation he went through was just fascinating to me. I am also a huge Julia Roberts fan, so I wish her the best.
Favorite TV show?
I am obsessed with Parks and Recreation. I was sick a while ago and I just laid in bed all day and watched a marathon.
What is your guilty pleasure?
I have plenty of them. What genre would you like? I love having dark, dark chocolate and red wine late at night.
What is one thing you always do before going to bed?
I always give John a kiss before I go to bed.
How do you plan on celebrating your wedding and honeymoon?
We would love to go skiing, but we might not be able to do that by the time we get married. So, we will probably go somewhere warm and spend it on the beach in bikinis. Not John, though — that would be weird!
Tell me about the new season of Awkward. What can we expect?
Jillian Rose Reed: A lot of new stuff is happening! We are filming season 4 and it is senior year. Besides the obvious, awkward tone of the show, we are dealing with the stress of senior year. Are we going to college? Are we going to college together? Boy drama. All typical senior year drama!
Favorite TV show besides Awkward?
My boyfriend just started House of Cards, so I have gotten hooked on that. Also, I know I’m late to the party, but I love Orange is the New Black.
Favorite fashion trend?
Nikki DeLoach: I love denim! I think denim on denim is looking great and I love that overalls came back. I still have a pair from the sixth grade, but I don’t think I can fit into them anymore.
Where do you like to shop at?
Jillian: Can I tell you a secret? I love Forever 21. You can find everything there and not break the bank. Plus, if something rips, you can just be like, “Oh, whatever, it was only five dollars — let’s go get another one.”
Nikki: I feel the same way about Zara! It is a little more expensive, but they always have the hottest trends and looks out. Their turn around from the runway is so quick, so they are always on top of the fashion world in my book.
How is married life going?
Kaley Cuoco: Married life is amazing. I am so happy. It has already been two months and everything is going great — everything I hoped it could be and more.
What do you enjoy most about the Oscars or Oscar Weekend?
I really prefer to stay in. We like to watch them at home and on the couch. I usually have a dinner party and invite my friends over. Tonight is really fun, I am actually having a girls night out with my close friends. Oscars weekend is usually extremely crazy, so I try to stay indoors as much as possible. There is too much traffic.
Where is your husband tonight?
I have been planning this night for a while — it’s a girls night. Ryan is at home with the dogs, probably relaxing on the couch.
Do you want kids anytime soon?
I cannot wait to have kids! It probably won’t happen anytime soon, but I feel like I was born to be a mom. My husband definitely wants them, too, so we are just trying to take a little time and enjoy married life. It is definitely in the cards!
Has anything about married life surprised you?
I think that they always say nothing should feel different and it definitely feels the same as it did when we first met. I am like…oh, yeah…we’re married. I felt like I was married to him the second I met him. You always have someone there for you and someone you can come home to at night, so it is really nice.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Kat Dennings: I love cheesy, mystery books. Don’t laugh at me. I might be reading one that is called Cream Puff Murder Mystery. I’m not going to lie, it’s kind of relaxing.
How do you get ready for the red carpet?
It depends. Today I did my own hair, which was not fun and disappointing. But, I don’t really know, I just put on a movie or an audio book and zone out, let my soul leave my body.
Favorite part of the Oscars or Oscar weekend?
This year, I’m most excited about Jared Leto’s ombre. It is a big deal in my life. I can’t wait to see how he wears it for the carpet. Also, there are so many great performances. Even though I will be at home, I just get so excited to watch them.
Do you have a favorite movie that’s been nominated?
I haven’t watched all of them, so I probably shouldn’t say!
Favorite part of Oscar weekend?
Nick Cannon: Being an actor and a movie buff, it is all about being involved with the weekend. I don’t really go to many events, but I love to watch the show. To see the whole process play out throughout the year, and then it comes down to that one night.
Did you have a favorite movie this year?
I was a big fan of Wolf of Wall Street, but there were so many great movies. Matthew McConaughey did his thing this year. I will be rooting for him to win.
