10 Memorable Looks From Last Year's Academy Awards

On Sunday, a new group of actors, actresses, films, directors and more will be recognized as the best in the business at the 2014 Academy Awards. Of course, the show is about so much more than just the trophies — fashion plays a major part in the big night, too!

With so many A-list stars scheduled to attend the show this year, there’s sure to be a lot of style to talk about once the red carpet is rolled out. Until then, get pumped for the glitz and glam of awards season’s biggest event with 10 memorable looks from last year’s show:

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence

She was the it-girl of awards season last year…and not much has changed since! The 2013 Best Actress winner made it onto many Best Dressed lists in a strapless, pale pink, Dior Haute Couture gown with a unique, backwards necklace.

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway

Anne got a lot of praise last year as a Best Supporting Actress for her role in Les Miserables, but a lot of criticism for the way she reacted at awards shows. Similarly, her Oscar dress proved to be very polarizing — people either loved the light pink, backless Prada…or hated it.

Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts

She was a best actress nominee…and certainly looked the part. The Impossible star dazzled in a form-fitting, silver Armani Prive gown with left shoulder cut out for just a bit of sex appeal.

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron

Charlize was just a presenter at the 2013 show, but she still managed to stand out in a strapless, white, peplum style Dior Haute Couture dress. Plus, it was one of her first big events rocking a super short pixie cut, which she did with confidence!

Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart

Many people thought K.Stew had no business being at the Academy Awards in the first place…and then she showed up using crutches. In her defense, she did ditch the unlikely accessory to pose for photos, but they probably shouldn’t have been anywhere near a red carpet to begin with.

Amy Adams

Amy Adams

Amy got mixed reviews on her light-blue-hued Oscar de la Renta get-up with ruffled skirt.

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain

Jessica showed off her undeniably amazing figure in a strapless, Armani Prive gown that complemented her red hair and pale skin.

Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried

Another look that received mixed reviews was Amanda’s. The actress wore a custom, embroidered Alexander McQueen dress with halter top, but many felt the tight updo made her seem older than she actually is.

Helena Bonham Carter

Helena Bonham Carter

Helena is known for her eccentric red carpet looks, so it wasn’t quite a surprise when she showed up in a quirky, black and white layered dress. Her messy hairstyle is a perfect fit for the dress…but not for the Oscars red carpet!

Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington

She really began to become a household name as her show Scandal gained popularity last year…and she definitely didn’t disappoint at the Oscars. The Django Unchained star flaunted her fabulous figure in a pink Miu Miu dress with embellished chest. This year, she’ll have a whole different styling experience, though, because she’s going to be very, very pregnant!
