Madonna was in Toronto this Tuesday to oversee the official launch of her first Hard Candy Fitness club in North America. She kicked off the luxe facility in style, dressed to kill in high heels, stockings and a black corseted dress by Canadian designer dsquared2.
Though Madonna trains six times a week and was scheduled to lead some classes herself, she left her sneakers and sweats at home thanks to a minor dance injury that left her with a bandaged left foot.
Luckily Madge was joined by her hand-picked Hard Candy Fitness performance team, including her own personal trainer, Nicole Winhoffer – who designed the Addicted to Sweat workout that Madonna loves.
While the Toronto club is the first to open in North America, it’s actually the eighth to open worldwide, following the Hard Candy Fitness brand’s 2010 debut in Mexico City, and subsequent expansion to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rome. Sydney, Berlin and Santiago, Chile.
The 42,000 square foot Toronto facility is the largest in the chain so far – and could double as a shrine to Madonna, with plenty of posters of The Material Girl, red lipstick-colored dumbbells, and, of course, Madonna’s music featured in heavy rotation.
