50 Shades of Grey is already one of the most buzzed about movies of next year, but according to Dakota Johnson, working on the film isn’t as exciting as you’d think!

The actress opened up to Vanity Fair about preparing for her role as Anastasia Steele — which, believe it or not, involves more than just being comfortable shooting sex scenes. “[I did] a lot of getting into the character’s head, Ana’s headspace, kind of before she meets Christian [Grey],” she explained. “So it’s a lot of reading, which I love. But she’s an English major, so that’s kind of boring.”

Dakota and Jamie Dornan began filming the anticipated film a couple of months ago, with director Sam Taylor-Johnson. The decision to cast Jamie came after Charlie Hunnam decided to drop out, but luckily, it’s been smooth sailing since.

“It’s been a very smooth, fun and creative experience,” the 24-year-old added. “I think going into something like this you kind of have all these different fears about what it could be like, and none of those things are happening. We all get along really well, the crew is amazing, and we’re all just trying to make the project the best it can be.”

The movie hits theaters on Feb. 13, 2015 — exactly one year from today!
