It’s been a rough few months for Teresa and Joe Giudice, who are currently preparing for upcoming court dates for fraud charges. On top of that, the Real Housewives of New Jersey couple has four daughters, including 13-year-old Gia, who is old enough to be aware of what’s going on.
Recently, Gia made headlines herself when she tweeted (and quickly deleted) to a friend, “who’s this chick you little f****t.” Star sat down with the teenager to discuss the controversial tweet, her family’s problems…and even normal, teenage stuff!
How does it feel to be part of such a huge reality TV show?
Well, it’s not easy. When I was younger, I didn’t realize what it was, or what impact it could take on me in the future. But, you know, that’s how I grew up, and I have to take responsibilities for my actions because I am always in the public eye.
What is the most fun about it?
The most fun about being a reality star is when we get special treatment. For instance, when I go to Disney, I get to go first in line, or when I want concert tickets…I can get them for free!
Your family is going through a tough time. How are you handling it?
It’s obviously hard for my family to go through this. It’s been a difficult time, but it is just making our family closer and even stronger. And my friends at school have been so supportive. I’m really lucky.
What are the hard parts?
Well, sometimes, I forget I am a public person — like the other day. I tweeted to a friend and people took it as a gay slur. I would never think that way. It was a mistake to joke, but that’s not what I meant. So, that’s hard, and then I feel awful.
Do your parents talk to you about what they are going through?
They always give me advice, and say, ‘Mommy and daddy are handling it. Everything will be okay.’ They are also very open with me and very supportive. They are very hands-on parents and I feel bad that we have to go through this in public. The good thing is that we are a closer family than ever.
I’ve heard you are an amazing help with your little sisters. What do you do?
My mom has her hands full with four kids, so I help my sisters with their homework. I also help them get better at any activities they are struggling with, and I also am always there when they need advice.
If you could go to any concert, who would it be?
I would definitely chose Beyonce! She is awesome.
Who is your celebrity dream date?
My dream date would be Josh Hutcherson because he is adorable and a talented actor!
