At the time of his sudden death on Saturday, Philip Seymour Hoffman still had about seven days of shooting left to complete on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2. Naturally, there’s been no word yet on what this will mean for his character, Plutarch Heavensbee, and of course, his coworkers on the film are devastated upon learning the news.
The film’s star Jennifer Lawrence, along with director Francis Lawrence and author Suzanne Collins, issued a statement on behalf of the movie’s team on Sunday. “Words cannot convey the devastating loss we are all feeling right now,” they said. “Philip was a wonderful person and an exceptional talent, and our hearts our breaking. Our deepest condolences go out to his family.”
At just 46-years-old, Philip was found dead in his New York City apartment due to an apparent drug overdose. Filming on Mockingjay Part 1 was reportedly largely completed at the time of his death.
