Amanda Knox Guilty in Murder Retrial

Amanda Knox

Amanda Knox and her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito have been found guilty in the murder of Meredith Kercher. The duo were originally convicted in 2009, but the verdict was overturned in 2011. On Thursday, Italy’s highest court concluded a retrial.

The 26-year-old, who was studying abroad in Italy at the time of the charges, was sentenced to 28.5 years in prison. However, because the law did not require her to return to Italy for the retrial, it’s reportedly unlikely that she’ll serve any time in prison due to U.S. law states that a person cannot be charged for the same crime twice.

On the other hand, Raffaele was in his home country when the retrial took place, and he’s been sentenced to 25 years. Just last week, Star released exclusive interviews with Idaho resident Kelsey Kay, who nearly married the 29-year-old over the summer so he could get his American visa and avoid the charges.

Make sure to check out our exclusive interviews with Kelsey, and also take a look at the conversations during which Raffaele tried to convince her to marry him.
