Justin Bieber's Rumored Girlfriend Releases Statement

Chantel Jeffries

Chantel Jeffries was a relatively unknown model — until she started hanging out with Justin Bieber. The 21-year-old was riding shotgun when the Biebs was arrested last Thursday, and has since been receiving significant media attention.

Part of that attention includes reports that she’s been arrested herself…five times! On Wednesday, Chantel released a statement hoping to clear up some of the rumors.

“I have been overwhelmed by the negative attention I have recently received in the media,” she said. “My family and I are particularly upset about the false accusations which have been published about my criminal history. For the record, I have not been arrested five times as has been stated in the media, nor am I guilty of physically assaulting anyone, in any way, shape or form. I am a full-time student who had enjoyed a normal lifestyle, free from public scrutiny and criticism until now. What has happened to me is wrong. I want people in general, and the media in particular, to consider the impact of their disparaging comments on the individual, especially when the comments are inaccurate.”

After last week’s incident, it was rumored that Chantel was accepting a $20,000 offer to discuss the situation. “Chantel’s attorney and I received multiple appearance requests for Chantel, as you can imagine,” her rep explained. “None were for compensation, especially $20,000. None were accepted.”

The 21-year-old shared the above information on her Twitter. She added that she did consider appearing on the TODAY show, but “not about Justin, about false allegations against me only,” and “I would never ‘sell my story.'”

Following Justin’s arrest, Chantel joined him in Panama, where he was seen shooting a music video earlier this week. She left on Wednesday.
