Kristen Stewart has enough style that she was recently named the face of Chanel’s 2013/14 campaign, but that wasn’t always the case! The actress made her red carpet debut in 2002 at the premiere of her film Panic Room, and the awkward and not-so-fashion-forward pictures from that night still haunt her.
“It shouldn’t be embarrassing because I was so young, but it doesn’t even matter how young you are, you are just so, so embarrassed,” she admitted.
The 23-year-old added that she’s basically at a loss for words whenever the memorable photos of her at age 12 show up. “I look at that and I’m like, ‘Oh…my…gosh!” she laughed. “I had, like, these baby hairs and I was being weird about them, so I was like, ‘I’m just gonna cut them off.’ I did not know how to get dressed up at that age at all, I didn’t even know what I liked. I was just like completely…a goofy kid.”
Still, K. Stew said she doesn’t worry too much about past red carpet mistakes. “I definitely look back and think, ‘Oh, that wasn’t my best choice,’ or that it was so obvious that I wasn’t comfortable in that,” she explained. “But, at the same time, you know — I liked it then. You can’t really have too many regrets.”
“It is a good feeling, though, when you get it right and you can walk tall,” she added. “It shows…everyone can see that.”
