Six months after the birth of her second child, Ace, Jessica Simpson is back in the spotlight! The mom of two has been photographed several times since giving birth, showing off her post-baby bod, but on Tuesday, she gave her first live interview since dropping the weight.
The 33-year-old, who is a spokesperson for Weight Watchers, admitted that from the get-go, she was a lot more motivated to stay healthy with her second pregnancy. “When I was pregnant with Ace, my second, I had already done Weight Watchers, and I had already lost over 50 pounds,” she explained. “So I wasn’t as relaxed in my eating and everything as I was with Maxwell, but I was just on a healthier regimen…so I just kept walking and staying active…and then Maxwell started walking!”
Jessica added that becoming a mom, especially to a little girl, has also helped push her. “As a mom, I just have this confidence, and I just feel so proud of what I’ve done and what I’ve accomplished,” she said. “I really do also feel this need to be the best role model for my children. I want Maxwell to look up to me and want to be like me, I don’t want to give her any false perception of what is real and what’s important.”
Now that she’s gotten in shape, next up, is marriage. Jess and her fiance, Eric Johnson, were planning a wedding after Maxwell’s 2012 birth, but got sidetracked with the unexpected, second pregnancy. “We don’t have an actual date, but we do know that we want it to be this year,” she admitted. “We need to get married! I already feel like we’re an old married couple because if he wanted to run…he could’ve run when I was hormonal and pregnant.”
