Some things are no joking matter — like, for instance, a woman’s weight! Unfortunately, Jay Mohr hasn’t quite gotten that memo yet, and has had to do major damage control after “fat-shaming” Alyssa Milano on the radio.
“She’s stunning. I mistakenly thought the absurdity of what I was saying would have ben taken as a joke. #fail,” he tweeted. Soon after, he added a post to his blog, further apologizing. “Alyssa is an extraordinarily beautiful person—both inside and out,” he wrote. “Alyssa is a mother, a wife, an actress, and a class act that should always be celebrated. Sometimes comedians go too far. I went too far. I cannot change what I said, but I can assure you that my heart is broken that I hurt her. I am very sorry.”
The actor claimed that he thought his comments, which reportedly included, “It seems like she had a baby and said, ‘I don’t really give a s–t.’ I read it on her gut,” would be taken in a humorous way “given that she is the size of a thimble.”
The 40-year-old actress responded to Jay’s apology, and even made light of the situation. “Thank you. Apology accepted. (She grunts while aggressively yet cautiously prying off her head-to-toe Spanx). #PassTheCookies,” she tweeted.
And all is well!
