Selena Gomez Cancels Tour in Asia & Australia

Selena Gomez

It’s been a busy year for Selena Gomez, and after months of working non-stop, she’s taking a time-out to start off 2014. Unfortunately, in order to do so, the singer has cancelled her upcoming tour dates in Asia and Australia.

“My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them,” she said in a statement. “But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.”

Last Spring, Selena starred in the highly-publicized film Spring Breakers. After that, she immediately began promoting her new single “Come and Get It,” while finishing up her album Stars Dance, released in July. The album’s World Tour began in August, and she’s been on the road in North America and Europe ever since.

The tour’s next leg was set to kick off in Japan on Jan. 16, finishing up in Melbourne on Feb. 8. No word yet on when/if these dates will be rescheduled.
