Marvel officially has its newest superhero! On Thursday, the studio confirmed rumors that Paul Rudd would be playing the title character in Ant-Man.
“When [director] Edgar White came to us with the idea of Paul Rudd, we felt a huge sense of relief because the first step in creating any Marvel Studios film is finding the right star,” Marvel’s studio head said. “We knew early on that we had found the right person in Paul. When he not only agreed to do it, but became as enthusiastic as any actor we’d ever met with about doing the work, we knew we’d found the right guy. We couldn’t be more excited for our audiences to see what he’s going to do to bring Ant-Man to life.”
Unfortunately, fans are going to have to wait a while to see the result — Ant-Man isn’t expected to hit theaters until July 31, 2015, and the plot is still being kept under wraps.
Luckily, fans of the comic-turned-movies have a few other Marvels projects to look forward to. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is due out on April 4, Gardens of the Galaxy on Aug. 1, and Avenges: Age of Utron on May 1, 2015.
