Katy Perry Compares "Who You Love" Video to Kimye's "Bound 2"

John Mayer & Katy Perry

‘Tis the season for…starring in music videos with your significant other? On the Ellen DeGeneres Show Friday, Katy Perry and John Mayer discussed their duet “Who You Love,” the video for which premiered earlier this week.

“Was it your response to Kim [Kardashian] and Kanye [West’s] “Bound 2?”” Ellen asked. That video, released a few weeks ago, featured the reality star riding topless on a motorcycle while straddling her fiance.

“Yes…I thought our response was a little bit more authentic because my hair was blowing in the right direction though,” Katy joked.

Things were a little more serious, though, when the “Unconditionally” singer talked about her relationship. “We have a lot of fun,” she admitted.”You know, we have music as an understanding, and love between each other — and we connect. It’s like he understands what I do because he does the same thing. So, after a long day, if it’s been tough, I don’t really have to go into it. He just gets it.”

The couple have been dating on-and-off for a year and a half, and Katy explained how they finally got it to work. “When there’s two people involved…someone other than yourself…you have to figure out a compromise in a good way,” she revealed. “There’s a lot of respect — I really adore him and respect him as a musician.”

The singers will spend Christmas together this year, but they’ll both be touring in 2014.
