It’s been a few weeks since Amber Portwood was released from jail, and now, she’s opening up for the first time since serving her sentence. In an episode of Dr. Phil airing Friday, the reality star discussed what she’s been through.
“This is actually my first time on stage sober, so I’m really nervous,” she admitted. The 23-year-old also revealed that she was under the influence for all four seasons of her MTV reality show Teen Mom. “Every time you see me on that show, I am high,” she said.
After rehab stints for addiction to prescription pills, Amber relapsed and opted for a 5-year jail sentence instead of trying out another rehab program. She was released more than three years early for earning “good time credit” during her time behind bars.
Also in the interview, the mom of 5-year-old Leah discusses, in detail, how she managed to keep using drugs while in rehab. The entire thing airs on Dec. 20.
