Former editors of News of the World, a British tabloid which has been discontinued, are currently on trial for hacking into the cellphones of Kate Middleton and Prince Harry, among others. The defendants have denied all charges, but in court on Thursday, the jury heard for the first time that the phones had, in fact, been hacked.

Voicemails on the Duchess of Cambridge’s phone from 2006 were played during the trial…including those from her now-husband Prince William. In case you were wondering — he sometimes calls her “babykins.”

One message reveals that the Prince nearly got shot by blanks during a military training exercise. “Hi, baby, it’s me,” he says in the recording. “Sorry, I’ve just got back in off my night navigation exercises…I think I missed you by about ten minutes.” He continues, “I’ve been running around the woods of Aldershot chasing shadows and getting horribly lost and I walked into some other regiment’s ambush, which was slightly embarrassing because I nearly got shot.”

He then got a little more personal, telling Kate, “I might send a cheeky text message cause I might have my phone on me, but um, otherwise baby, um, do try and ring me as soon as you can in the next 25 minutes or so. All right, baby, lots of love.”

The six defendants are accused of conspiracy to intercept voicemails, while three are also facing possible charges for corrupting officials.
