For three years, Blake Shelton has dominated on The Voice, but this year, the country singer didn’t even have a team member left standing in the final three. Instead, Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine were left to battle it out with their remaining singers.
The Maroon 5 frontman and Season 1 winner still had a chance with two artists left, Tessanne Chin and Will Champlin, while Christina’s cards were all left with 16-year-old Jacquie Lee. Tessanne was ultimately named the winner, with Jacquie falling just short in second place. On Monday, her coach had already declared her the winner of the show following her rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.”
After the announcement, the Jamaican singer performed her first single, written by One Republic’s Ryan Tedder.
Season 6 of The Voice will return on Feb. 24, with Adam and Blake returning to their big red chairs for another season. However, they’ll be joined by Season 4 judges Shakira and Usher, rather than Christina and CeeLo Greene.
