Fans of Family Guy were devastated three weeks ago, when beloved character, Brian Griffin, the family dog, was hit by a car and killed. The show received massive attention, not to mention lots of hate on social media, for the controversial decision…but it was all part of creator, Seth MacFarlane’s, master plan!
On this week’s Christmas episode, Stewie travels back in time to prevent Brian’s accident from happening, a storyline that the showrunners planned for a specific reason. “And thus endeth our warm, fuzzy holiday lesson: Never take those you love for granted, for they can be gone in a flash,” Seth tweeted after the episode aired.
He then added that fans would be crazy to actually think he’d kill off such an important character. “I mean, you didn’t really think we’d kill off Brian, did you?” he wrote. “Jesus, we’d have to be f—ing high.”
Deep breaths, now, Family Guy fans — all is restored in Quahog for now!
