The response to The Sound of Music Live!, particularly Carrie Underwood’s performance, was fairly mixed on social media. But whether they loved it or hated it — people were till tuning in.
The three-hour performance attracted 18.5 million viewers to NBC, the network’s highest, non-sports, Thursday night rating since ER’s finale in 2009. It even tied Thursday’s usual winner, The Big Bang Theory, with a 4.6 ratings in the 18-49 demo.
After the live show, Carrie tweeted several photos with some of her cast mates, and also shared a positive reaction regarding the performance. “Glory to God tonight…I couldn’t be more proud. What a tough thing to pull off and we did it! I am so blessed!!!” she wrote.
Seems like NBC may have caught onto something here…
