Selena Gomez Responds to Lorde's "Come and Get It" Diss

Selena Gomez

Watch out, Lorde. The 17-year-old New Zealand pop singer has just edged herself into the American music scene, and she’s already made at least one enemy — Selena Gomez.

In a new interview, the “Slow Down” singer responds to Lorde’s now infamous comment about her song “Come and Get It.” “I’m a feminist, and the theme of her song is ‘when you’re ready, come and get it from me,'” Lorde said previously. “I’m sick of being portrayed this way.”

Selena stands true to her No. 1 tune, though. “That’s not feminism!” she told Flaunt. “[Lorde is] not supporting other women. That’s my honest opinion, that’s what I would say to her if I saw her. I’ve actually covered her song in all of my shows that I’ve done so far. I’m not sure if I’m going to continue that.”

Indeed, the 21-year-old changed her setlist to cover Katy Perry’s “Roar” instead.

Perhaps to Selena’s disdain, though, it looks like Lorde will be sticking around for quite some time. Both her single “Royals” and album Pure Heroine skyrocketed to the top of the US charts.
