When previews for the remaining episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians aired, it seemed like we’d mostly be seeing the final preparations before the birth of Kim Kardashian‘s daughter. On Sunday’s episode, however, viewers got a long-awaited peek at the beginning of Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s relationship struggles.
Throughout the hour-long show, the reality star got several mysterious phone calls from her husband, after which she admitted that he has “a lot of emotional issues.”
“Lamar is a very depressed person, which is sad, but understandable for everything he’s been through in his life,” she confessed. “I do love Lamar with every ounce of who I am, but it’s really scary when someone’s in such a deep low and you know they’re relying on you to get them out of it, and you’re trying and you’re trying and you’re trying, but nothing’s really working.”
While Khloe never addressed the basketball player’s drug problems or multiple affairs, she couldn’t hide the fact that their relationship was far from perfect just before their four-year anniversary. “He’s so annoying right now,” she told little sis, Kylie Jenner, after the strange phone calls, during which Lamar seemed paranoid that his wife was lying to him about where she was.
“Where does he think you are?” Kylie asked, to which the 29-year-old responded, “I don’t know, Kylie. I can’t answer you.” The footage appeared to be filmed right before the youngest Jenner’s Sweet 16 back in August.
After the episode aired, Khloe indirectly discussed the revelations on Twitter, but insisted she and Lamar are staying strong. “Speculate all you want,” she wrote. “The armor I put around MY family can’t melt or even scratch. So continue to throw your daggers. You will never cut us, you will just tire yourself out. Strong and united we will still stand.”
Remember, though — actions speak louder than words…
