“I never thought [me being a dad] was going to happen,” he admitted. “Partly because I was scared of who I was going to have kid with, but Lauren [Silverman] and I get along really well and once I got used to the idea, I thought, ‘I think this is going to be very good.'” Gee, Simon, it’s nice to know that you and your girlfriend/baby “get along…” that really is all it takes, right?! Sigh.
Despite his casual take on the relationship, the 50-year-old added, “I am happy at the moment, actually. It’s kind of an unusual feeling. Overall, everything is fine.”
However, Lauren better make sure she has someone to accompany her in the delivery room on the day of the baby’s birth. “I know this sounds awful, but it’s like, you don’t want to go into the restaurant while they’re making your dinner. I think there are certain things you shouldn’t see, and this is one of them. I’ll be very close by, but no, I [won't watch].”
Simon does plan to have a major role in his child’s life, though. “Let’s put it this way, I wouldn’t expect [Lauren] to be a single mother,” he explained.
