Dancing With the Stars Recap: Who Was the First to Go Home?!

Keyshawn Johnson & Sharna Burgess

It was a jam packed night on Dancing With the Stars on Monday, with all 12 couples performing a Latin dance before Season 17’s first elimination. Although they didn’t fall quite at the bottom of the judges’ leader board, former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson and his partner Sharna Burgess were the first pair sent home.

Fan favorite Bill Nye was at the bottom of the scoreboard once again this week (the judges rewarded him only 17 points), however, viewer votes were able to keep him in the competition. Corbin Bleu, with partner Karina Smirnoff, performed an upbeat Jive (themed to the movie that made him famous, High School Musical0, landing him at the top of the board with a 26.

Elizabeth Berkley and Christina Milian both showed improvements this week, both scoring 25/30 for their Samba and Paso Doble, respectively. After two weeks of scores, though, it’s Amber Riley who still holds the ultimate top spot, adding a score of 24 from her Jive to last week’s 27. Leah Remini and Jack Osbourne both also scored 24.

One of the most talked about dances of the night, though, was from Brant Daugherty, who delivered a sexy rumba with partner Peta Murgatroyd that really showed off their chemistry as a pair. The routine scored them a 23/30. Following was Bill Engvall with a 21, Nicole Polizzi with 20, and the inspiring Valerie Harper, who scored a 19.

It’s incredibly difficult to predict who will go home next week, especially with so many of the contestants having niche fan bases. Of course, the obvious choice is Bill Nye, but judging by the audience and fan reactions, it doesn’t seem like he’ll be going for at least a couple of weeks.
