It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything on the Amanda Bynes front, and although she’s currently getting treated for a mental condition, she’s not quite ready to take on any serious matters quite yet. The actress was supposed to appear in court today for her April 2012 DUI arrest, but was reportedly unfit to stand trial.
The troubled actress’ lawyer allegedly told the judge that Amanda doesn’t have the mental capacity to understand legal proceedings. From there, the judge moved the case to the mental health court, where it’ll be determined if the 27-year-old is or is not fit for trial.
In July, Amanda was taken into custody and placed under involuntary mental supervision. Her stay was soon extended when doctors said they needed more time to figure out exactly what was wrong with her. In early September, the actress’ psychiatric stay was extended to what could be up to a full year. However, the plan is to release her much sooner than that, under the conservatorship of her mother. Clearly, there’s still a ways to go, though.
