EXCLUSIVE: Carmen Electra Opens Up About Her Return to Music!

Carmen Electra

You may recognize Carmen Electra as a model, actress and dancer, but don’t forget that she also had a short-lived singing career in the early nineties. Years later, the now 41-year-old is working on returning to her musical roots. Star caught up with Carmen at the Voices on Point Gala on Sat., Sept. 7.

“My single, “I Like It Loud,” was really inspired based on my history and what I’ve really wanted to do with my career,” she told us.

The former Baywatch star added that her goal from day one was to be a performer, whether that meant dancing, singing, or Broadway. “When I was working my way up dancing, I met Prince,” she explained (the iconic singer briefly signed Carmen to his record label in 1991). “He really believed in me and so I feel very blessed to have had that experience and that gave me just the tiny bit of courage to try in Hollywood and see if I could make it on my own.”

Nearly 20 years later, though, Carmen’s decision to return to music has been more about just doing what she loves than it is about proving herself. “Revisiting music has been therapy for me!” she admitted. “I love getting together with my dance crew, dancers, choreographers, and just performing. I love to perform. I love to be on stage.”

The sexy Playboy model is working with Mally Mall in the studio, and recently appeared in his video (feat. Wiz Khalifa and Tyga) for “Drop Bands on It.” “That was really cool…a cherished moment!” she concluded.
