It’s official — Jennifer Lopez will be returning to her seat on the judge’s panel for Season 13 of American Idol! Although her return has been rumored for weeks, Fox officially made the announcement on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The singer will be joined by Keith Urban, who judged Season 12, as well as rookie Harry Connick Jr.

Although Harry may not have had his turn in the judge’s chair yet, he has experience with the show, and has acted as a contestant mentor in the past. “I have always been a huge fan of American Idol and really enjoyed my time as a mentor on the show,” he said in a statement. “I’m honored that they asked me to be a judge this season. As an entertainer, I’m truly excited to bring my perspective to American Idol and help emerging performers find their way.”

As reported, Randy Jackson will also be returning to the show, but instead of judging, he’ll take over Jimmy Iovine’s role as the contestants’ mentor. “Surprise, surprise! I’m so happy to be back as part of this amazing show that started it all,” the music guru, who’s been part of the show since Season 1, shared.

Season 13 of American Idol will premiere in January 2014.
