Matt Damon Supports Ben Affleck as Batman in Man of Steel Sequel

There’s at least one person out there who supports the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman! Although the actor has received a ton of negative criticism since being cast as the superhero in the Man of Steel sequel, his longtime pal, Matt Damon, has publicly come to his defense.

“I think it will be great,” Matt admitted. “It will be terrific.” He added that the character is “certainly within [Ben’s] skill set,” and he thinks it’s funny how people are bashing the idea so much on the Internet.

Unfortunately, if you were hoping that the BFFs would team up for the film, Matt also added that he won’t be playing the Robin to Ben’s Batman.

In the Man of Steel sequel, Superman (Henry Cavill) and Batman will battle one another. The film isn’t due out until July 2015, but Ben is reportedly already working out two times a day to get in shape for the role.
