Should Miley Cyrus Really Be Bragging About Her Record-Breaking VMA Performance?

Miley Cyrus

Everyone is talking about Miley Cyrus after her raunchy performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. So much so, in fact, that the 20-year-old officially broke the Twitter record for most tweets/minute. Her performance brought in 306,000 tweets per minute on Sunday.

“Smilers! My VMA performance had 306.000 tweets per minute,” she shared on Monday. “That’s more than the blackout or Superbowl! #fact.”

The “We Can’t Stop” singer may have a lot of people talking, but most of the overall comments have been negative. Wearing nothing but a skimpy leotard, Miley began her performance by singing her latest single, while twerking amongst giant teddy bears. Then, Robin Thicke joined her on stage, and she dueted with him on the hit “Blurred Lines.” Despite their 16-year age difference (and the fact that Robin is MARRIED with a CHILD), Miley danced provocatively with the 36-year-old, wearing nothing but tan lingerie.

Of course, she’s been defending her performance, posting positive reviews to her Twitter page, but that doesn’t take attention away from the fact that she left the awards show early…and seemed a bit bitter about her lack of awards. “Leaving the VMAs. No it’s not over. I’m no psychic but congrats @onedirection #songofthesummer.”

Maybe she is psychic, though — turns out the boy band did end up winning the Best Song of the Summer award, for which “We Can’t Stop” was also nominated. But at least they’re talking about you, right, Miles?
