Q&A: Sophia Bush Talks Her Future & Life Without One Tree Hill

Sophia Bush

If you miss the days when One Tree Hill was still airing new episodes, don’t worry — one of the shows stars, Sophia Bush, feels for you! The actress attended Invisible Children’s 4th Estate Leadership Summit on Sat., Aug. 10 in Los Angeles, where we caught up with her about how she feels about the show ending and what we can expect in the future.

The Invisible Children event is a weekend-long conference for students and educators “who want to meet the people, learn the skills and gain the experience that will help them make a difference in their own communities and around the world.”

What does this organization mean to you?

It’s an incredibly exciting thing that there are 1,500 young people from 27 different countries who are spending their weekend talking about human rights and what it really means to be a good citizen. It’s very inspiring.

So many fans miss One Tree Hill so much! Can you relate?

I get it. Sometimes on Sundays I feel like I should be able to just turn on Sex and the City and see what’s going on with the girls, so I feel their pain for the shows that were like that for me. But I think at the end of the day, most shows don’t last a couple of years, let alone almost a decade. Our creator, when we wrapped, said, “Do you guys realize we did more episodes of our show than they did of Seinfeld?!” And I went, “Oh. We should’ve had better contracts!” I’m kidding, but that’s such an incredible achievement, so the way that I look at it is that we got way more years than any other show like that usually does.

What’s on the horizon for you?

A lot of great things…this has been a really crazy week. We launched an initiative for NPR, I’m doing this conference and a conference for Falling Whistles. A lot of very exciting things happening.
