There were mixed feelings from viewers about the season finale of The Hills in 2010, but three years later, an alternate version may give those were disappointed some closure. MTV aired the three and a half minute alternate ending on Friday, and a surprising character shows up at the last minute!
In the original finale, Kristin Cavallari says goodbye to her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Brody Jenner, as she jets off for an overseas adventure. When the camera pans out from their emotional goodbye, though, we see them standing on a backlot. The shocking ending was a nod to the rumors that the show was completely staged, but it wasn’t the only finale option that show creator Adam DiVello handed into MTV.
Now, MTV has shared Adam’s other option, which again focuses on Kristin and Brody’s goodbye. However, after Kristin leaves, Brody returns home to find the show’s original star Lauren Conrad, who left the show in the middle of Season 5, sitting on his couch. She only makes a brief appearance, telling Brody that “goodbyes are hard,” before sticking her tongue out and grinning, but her presence alludes to the idea that the “good girl” gets the guy in the end (although Brody was actually dating Avril Lavigne at the time).
These days, Lauren, Kristin and Brody are all very removed from their days on The Hills. Kristin is married to Jay Cutler, with a one-year-old son, and splits her time between Nashville, Los Angeles and Chicago. Lauren is dating USC law student William Tell, living a much more laid back life than her reality show days. She’s written several books and has a successful fashion line. Meanwhile, Brody stayed out of the spotlight for a while, but recently made a return to reality television on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, where he’s rekindling a relationship with his dad, Kris Jenner’s husband, Bruce Jenner.
