After months of speculation, there’s still no word on who will star as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the anticipated film 50 Shades of Grey. However, it’s reported that Cara Delevingne recently auditioned for a role in the film.
The model-turned-actress’ audition wasn’t for the role of Ana, though, but rather for a secondary, yet still highly coveted, character. Cara made her film debut in 2012’s Anna Karenina, where she became close friends with actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Coincidentally, Aaron’s wife, Sara, will be directing 50 Shades of Grey.
The only recurring, somewhat prevalent, secondary, female character in the trilogy is Ana’s best friend, Kate. However, Cara’s agent has been in talks with the movie’s screenplay writer, who is allegedly planning on writing in a “strong role” for the British model if need be.
There have been tons of casting rumors regarding this movie, though, so we’ll have to wait until we hear this news from Cara’s camp to believe it 100%. The film is slated for an August 2014 release, so we should be getting some official casting news soon!
