Amanda Bynes' Psychiatric Hold Extended...Again

Amanda Bynes

Doctors are not ready to release Amanda Bynes from the hospital just yet. The actress’ psychiatric hold has been extended for 30 days.

Amanda was taken into custody for a mental evaluation after setting a fire in a stranger’s driveway on July 23. Although she was originally only supposed to be held for 72 hours, doctors extended her stay for two weeks. Today, the troubled star was scheduled to appear in court, where her parents were seeking conservatorship over her, but the medical experts said she was not well enough to leave the facility.

Due to the doctor’s request, a judge came to the hospital and issued an emergency hearing, where the hold was extended. According to the law, orders like this are only allowed if a patient is “gravely disabled as the result of a mental disorder.”

So…things are not looking good for Amanda, but luckily, she’s finally getting the help she needs.
