Usher Publicly Thanks the Men Who Saved His Son's Life

Usher

It’s been a rough week for Usher, whose son, Usher V, nearly drowned on Monday after getting his arm caught in a pool drain. Now, the singer has released a statement regarding the incident, and most importantly, thanking the men who got his son out of the water in time.

“I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and recovering,” he shared. “I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, love and support for my family’s well-being.”

When the accident occurred, the five-year-old was being watched by Usher’s aunt, but she was unable to get him out. Luckily, two male contractors working on the “Scream” singer’s home came outside to help save the day. “I would like to thank my Aunt Rena, as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock,” Usher added. “I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son’s life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews. They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them.”

On Tuesday, the 31-year-old’s ex-wife Tameka Foster filed for an emergency hearing to get custody of their two kids. The hearing will take place on Friday, Aug. 9.
