Two weeks after tragically losing her boyfriend Cory Monteith to a drug overdose, Lea Michele is breaking her silence. Although she’s released statements through her rep, requesting privacy, Lea took to her own Twitter account on Monday to remember her co-star and real life love.
“Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support,” she tweeted. “Cory will forever be in my heart.” Along with the message, she included an adorable photo of herself with Cory, snuggling up by the water.
Although this is only the first time we’ve heard from Lea directly, Glee creator Ryan Murphy previously revealed that he made no decisions about the future of the Fox show without consulting his leading lady first. With Lea’s consent, the show will begin filming next week, just one week after production was set to begin. “She was very adamant that she thought it was best for the cast and crew to get together sooner [rather] than later,” Ryan explained.
Last week, Lea and Ryan gathered cast and crew members from the show, as well as Cory’s family and friends, in a memorial service to celebrate his life. Additionally, the third episode of the upcoming season of Glee will address Cory’s character’s death in a tribute episode to the late actor.
