Q&A: Lydia McLaughlin Discusses Her First Season on RHOOC

Lydia McLaughlin

Lydia McLaughlin just wrapped up her first season as a star on The Real Housewives of Orange County, which is clearly a tense environment to come into.

Star caught up with the reality star at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Show “Built to Amaze” premiere at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, and got the scoop on what she really thinks about filming the reality show!

You officially completed your first season as a Real Housewife! How did you survive?

It wasn’t as hard as I though it would be, surprisingly! The girls are all so great and I just tell myself to have fun with it. I never would have imagined I’d be on this show, but its all in good fun. The drama gets pretty intense though. Sometimes I have to take a deep breath and remind myself that this was my choice!

You were portrayed as somewhat of a “goodie goodie” on the show. Did you like that?

I think I am just very true to who I am and I stick to my morals. I love God, and I truly believe that if you are a good person, good things will come. The whole stripper thing, that just wasn’t me, and that was OK! I am totally fine having wild friends, but sometimes I just need to step out and stay true to who I am.

You are very open about your mother being a frequent used of marijuana. Do you ever get worried that your kids will experiment with drugs as they grow up?

I think all parents worry, but I am trying not to worry yet! My kids are so young, but when they get older I will definitely be conscientious of that. I want to keep them on the right track as best I can.
